Over the hill and through the wood—The well-worn path of holiday getaways can easily turn into a rut. This week we’re featuring easy and not-so-traditional holiday trips that can turn the season bright for everyone in the family. DAY ONE: THE FARMSTAY goats-grazing-in-meadow A FARMSTAY
Farmstays are great for families: The kids get to play out all their Old MacDonald fantasies and parents have a place where they can’t let the kids roam without much worry. Springtime birthing season is the most popular, but it’s also the busiest. Visiting during the winter lets you experience a quieter side to life on the farm, and many farms have on cool-weather activities for kids like egg gathering, hay rides and marshmallow roasts. Some great ones to check out: Willow-Witt Ranch in OR and The Inn at Serenbe in GA. Get the kids excited for the trip with this farm-themed book and CD set.
