Since it falls so far after their birthday, the fun of ringing in the new years Eve is virtually undiscovered and under-celebrated until kids are nearing their tween years. Which is unfortunate, since the holiday is so perfect for them—noisemakers and confetti are right up their alley and most parents would love kids to set a few resolutions (no more arguing about shoes or whining for dessert). This year, Philadelphia holds our top spot for best city to ring in the New Year with kids. With their full day’s worth of events, there’s enough going on to entertain and maybe even wear down even the most exuberant of celebrants. A few not-to-miss happenings are crafts and cake at the Betsy Ross birthday bash and ice skating on the waterfront set to the backdrop of the city’s spectacular fireworks show. The big event, however, is the much-anticipated Countdown 2 Noon at the city’s Please Touch Museum.
