Oregon is charming in just about any season, and fall is no exception. Ashland, Oregon, just north of the California border (and conveniently close to Interstate 5) is an especially picturesque spot when fall’s chill is in the air. It’s full of small town charm, a place where you can truly relax and get just far enough away from it all.

WHERE TO STAY

WILLOW-WITT RANCH
Budget to Mid-Priced $-$$
This working farm providing sustainable, organic meats, cheeses and cold season vegetables is a real find. Kids—and adults—can be part of milking, feeding and caring for the Willow-Witts farm animals, as well as just hang out on their gorgeous property. There’s three types of accommodations to choose from, the farmhouse studio, rustic wall tents or the campground. Rustic wall tent stayers can use the shared kitchen facilities; those in the farmhouse have their own private kitchen. Call ahead and they’ll even fully stock it with farm-fresh goods for you.

THE PALM MOTEL & COTTAGES
Budget to Mid-Priced $-$$
Beautiful grounds, a private cabana and heated saltwater pool. Best of all, you will not believe the affordable prices. It’s also within walking (or walking with stroller) distance to local favorite breakfast spot, Morning Glory Cafe. Note: some cottages are for children 12 and up.
