When we stayed in a cabin last summer we had great furniture--it was brand new, with a rustic, old mountain cabin look to it. The Y has been doing a lot of upgrading with furniture and carpet and lighting. We were very impressed.

The New Children's Museum of San Diego is a MUST SEE when you're downtown. The nearby outdoor play area only adds to the experience! They have one free Sunday each month. If you're not staying downtown, try taking the train (and save $20+ parking fees). We've travelled from Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Encinitas, etc to downtown by train.

The bowls are super easy to clean. At home I just pop them in the dishwasher or do a standard rinse in the sink. The food just slides right off. In the field they are easy to clean too as they can be completely inverted... which is great for those hungry campers that want to lick their bowls clean.
cheers

Just returned from two nights at the Wildflower Inn with our 1 1/2 year old. Scenery is gorgeous, rooms comfortable and kid services fantastic. I would definitely recommend this spot to families who want an escape from muggy East Coast cities this summer.

Yes, it's easy to feel more than a bit removed from the 'real' Dominican people at Punta Cana's all-inclusive resorts. The Dominican Republic is not a rich country. The reality of that is not something the resort owners want to remind people of. That said, the staffers were mostly Dominican (some were of a Haitian background and spoke French as their first language) and we had many interactions with them. But the experience is much more like a cruise with a mainly American, Canadian and European customer tended to by locals. The benefit is it's easy and relaxing. No worries about food or drink or safety. There's a kids club, easy access to babysitting and entertainment...
